SHOWA/SHOWA SANSHOKU/SHOWA SANKE
(SHO-wah) (SHO-wah san-SHO-koo) (SHO-wah SAHN-kee)

Showa are three color koi, much like a Sanke, but they are
predominately black, with red or white markings. Showa Sanshoku
is the formal term for Showa.

VARIETIES OF SHOWA

Hi Showa
Predominantly red, with a straight red marking from head to tail.
The Hi tends to be more orange in color than on other Showa varieties.

Kindai Showa
Predominantly white pattern with much more white on its body than a
traditional Showa

Boke Showa
The Sumi on this variation of Showa is blurred, making it seem
closer to gray than black in appearance.

Tancho Showa
Showa whose only red (Hi) is a spot on the head.
